The Job
Wastege was appointed to carry out a full hazardous waste clearance at a farm in York that was being prepared for sale. A range of chemicals, products and other waste materials needed to be identified and removed from the property before the sale could be completed.
Some of the materials stored on site were unknown, requiring further assessment and testing to establish how they should be handled and disposed of safely. The priority was to ensure all relevant waste was accounted for and removed in a compliant manner, allowing the property to be handed over without the outstanding waste presenting an issue.
Our Solution
Wastege began by auditing the site to assess the materials present and compile a definitive inventory of the waste requiring removal. Unknown substances were tested where necessary to help determine the appropriate handling and disposal methods.
Following the assessment, our team developed a clearance plan, arranging the required operators, suitable containers and transport. Bunded containers were used where appropriate to safely contain hazardous materials, while our 26-tonne curtain-sided vehicles supported the removal and transportation of the waste from site.
All collected waste was transported to licensed facilities for appropriate treatment or disposal, ensuring the clearance was carried out responsibly and in line with relevant waste management requirements.
The site was successfully cleared of the identified chemicals and waste, enabling the farm sale to proceed. This project demonstrated Wastege’s expertise in managing complex hazardous waste clearances, including sites containing unknown materials that require careful assessment before removal.
